Automatic Gate Planning

Westforge Works · Reviewed 2026-11-06

An automatic gate enquiry should cover more than the gate’s appearance. The opening, available movement space, intended use and control requirements all need to be considered together. Westforge Works handles custom gate and gate-automation enquiries across Perth Metro.

Start with the site

Send photos of the opening, driveway, existing posts and nearby boundaries, together with approximate dimensions and your suburb. Mention slopes, restricted access and any existing gate or motor. Ask which site details need checking before a design can be confirmed.

Compare practical options

Sliding and swing arrangements have different space requirements. Ask which options suit the actual entrance and how pedestrian and vehicle access will be handled. Customer preferences are a starting point, not proof that a particular arrangement is suitable.

Specify the controls you need

Describe who will use the gate, how frequently, and any preferred access controls. Tell the team about existing power or equipment if known. Ask which control and installation components are included, rather than assuming every feature in a promotional example is part of the quote.

Ask about safe operation and support

Request an explanation of the proposed safety provisions, handover, operating instructions, maintenance requirements and support arrangements. Do not attempt electrical or mechanical modifications from a general article.

Use a site-specific quote

Confirm materials, finish, hardware, automation, installation, exclusions, applicable warranties and timing in writing. Motor ratings and prices from unrelated suppliers are not a specification or price for your job.
