Fit and finish checked before return.

Practical considerations

Worth knowing before you enquire.

  • Photographs of the damage and overall item make assessment much faster.
  • Repair is not always the right answer — heavily corroded items may be better replaced.
  • Repaired areas usually need refinishing to avoid corrosion returning at the repair.
  • Tell us if the item must be back in service by a particular date.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

Should I repair, recoat or replace?+

It depends on the extent of corrosion or damage, the item's importance and its age. We assess each item and will tell you when replacement is the more sensible option.

Can you modify an item that no longer suits its purpose?+

Often yes — extending, shortening, reinforcing or altering existing metalwork is routine workshop work.

Will the repair be visible?+

Repairs are finished tidily, and stripping and recoating the whole item usually gives the most consistent appearance.

Do you repair gates?+

Yes. Gate repairs, re-hanging, refinishing and adding automation to an existing gate are all handled by Westforge.
